In 2013, one of Europe´s largest production plants for automotive engines and vehicles was opened in Hungary. In 2016, just over 1.9 million automotive engines were manufactured and 123,000 vehicles rolled off the assembly line.
One of the challenges for the plant was the problem of oil mist arising from the manufacture of engine blocks. The production line of engine blocks had oil mist collectors with old demister technique and low filtration efficiency. Oil mist in the air destroyed the building´s roofing, which caused extensive maintenance work and production disruptions.
Filtac presented the Filtac FibreDrain concept to the manufacturer in Hungaria. The engine block line was equipped with Filtac OMF units and the filtered air is now clean from oil mist. The machine tools create concentration of emulsion mist approximate 18 mg/m3, which require very good filters due to continuous operation and long filter life.
Machining of engine blocks and cylinder heads are applications where Filtac have made lots of research and development during the last years and developed unique filter combinations in order to offer the best performing oil mist collectors.
