Wood dust causing inefficient production
A significant challenge causing inefficiency in the production of the particle boards was the dust in the process of the melamine press lines. During the process, the boards are pressed together with impregnated decor papers at a high temperature. At this stage, dust had ended up in the lines and required that regular production stops had to be made to remove the dust from the tapes, resulting in downtime and operational inefficiencies.
Wood dust collection system reduced operational downtime with 73%
To remedy the challenges with the dust in the press lines, a Nederman MCP SmartFilter was installed. The multi-purpose dust collection filtration system was customized to extract dust from below the bands at all times as the line is running, to keep the press lines clean. The installation resulted in a 73% less downtime due to tape removal. A significant improvement in efficiency and energy consumption, as well as increased safety for the workers by minimising the risks of combustible dust explosions.
- Nederman assisted in setting up the system and conducting analysis studies. They met all our expectations. Existing team members worked as a team and ensured the establishment of the system in a short time, says Orma Team Leader
