Breathing new life into a cabinet shop with the S-Series Shaker

Asbury Custom Cabinetry & Millwork is a small custom cabinet and millwork shop specializing in residential and commercial cabinetry based in Hampton, Virginia. They needed a compact, and robust indoor dust collector to help create a safe and dust-free work environment for their growing production needs.

Derek Asbury and his wife Brookelyn launched Asbury Cabinetry & Millwork in their two-car garage back in 2017. Since then, the business has seen remarkable growth, evolving into a modern shop outfitted with advanced machinery capable of tackling both large and small-scale projects.

As their production demands increased – especially with adding CNC machinery and supporting equipment – Derek reached out to a Nederman Dealer in search of a reliable dust collection solution. The mid-size S-Series 750 proved to be the perfect match, offering the performance they needed now with the flexibility to grow alongside the business.

To boost daily efficiency and maintain clean airflow during MDF and composite production, the S-Series unit was upgraded with the Auto-Shaker assembly. Additionally, Nordfab ductwork was installed to connect multiple machine drops directly to the S-750, ensuring smooth, centralized dust collection throughout the shop.

“Finding a dust collector that was strong enough to handle all of our machines has been just paramount to the transformation of our business. It brought a whole new life and a whole new system to my shop,” states Derek Asbury.

“Every square foot matters. We operate in a four thousand square foot facility and the S-750 was one of the smallest footprints with the most CFM volume for a dust collector,” continued Derek.

Derek commented that when he spoke with Nederman, “they wanted to listen. They wanted to know what solution I needed. Didn't matter if it was small or big.
