When Alvic USA selected Nederman as a partner the goal was to acquire a dust collection system which is known to be very reliable while finding the best ratio between price and performance, capable to be easily expanded in the future and (operating) separately for different production departments. To mitigate the effects of dust explosions, Nedermans new product series CARZ-N Explosion Isolation Valves was installed meeting the more stringent ATEX test protocols and combustible dust safety standards.

Organic dust material – sugar, flour, grain, spices and wood, for example – are just as combustible as metal dust. Minimizing the risks of a severe, or even fatal, explosion requires awareness – from both management and operators – as well as equipment that can adequately capture the dust and remove it from the production process.

Founded in 1963, Clayton Fixture Company is a commercial fixture company that manufactures table top, cabinets and other related accessories commonly found in restaurants. Clayton Fixture Company had a dust control problem that needed to be solved. Nederman provided a dust collection solution to address their specific manufacturing process needs. The installed high and low vacuum systems have substantially improved cleanliness of Clayton Fixture.

There are many different ways to design a dust collection system, but when the dust is combustible, codes and standards need to be addressed to ensure compliant, safe systems. At Nederman, we took on the challenge of certifying a key component of combustible dust systems to provide maximum flexibility in system design, so our customers can benefit from the lowest cost of ownership opportunities. This required starting with the explosion isolation flap valve, CARZ-N and finding ways to certify it for the broadest range of applications possible.
